Three Groups of People

by on May 15, 2013

John writes to three groups of people

Little children -Your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake.

– Ye have known the Father.

Young men -Ye have overcome the wicked one.

-Are strong.

-The word of God abides in you.

-Ye have overcome the wicked one.

Fathers – Ye have known him that is from the beginning.

John writes to three groups of believers.

  • Little children need to know that their sins are forgiven and that they know the Father
  • Young men are strong because the word of God abides in them

So they can overcome the wicked one.

  • Fathers are those who know God – the God of the beginning.

There is a progression in this passage.

  • From new birth from God.
  • To adult strength for God.
  • To mature fellowship with God.

Where are you in the process?

  • It is not chronological age. It is Spiritual maturity.
  • You can remain a child, just inside the fold or
  • You can move on to strength by having the word of God abide in you.
  • You can also grow into mature fellowship with God
  • With total peace and Holy Spirit control.
