The Reflection of Glory

by on September 28, 2013

The word glory can mean weighty or heavy.

It can also mean a reflection.

Now the Lord is the Spirit; and

Where the Spirit of the Lord is,

There is liberty.

But we all,

With unveiled face,

Beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord,

Are being transformed into the same image

From glory to glory,

By the Spirit of the Lord.

II Corinthians 3:17-18

When we look into a mirror we see ourselves as we are. When we look into the mirror of The Word of God, we see ourselves as we ought to be because we see God. As we continue to behold ourselves in His mirror, the Holy Spirit begins to change us into His image.

The image of God – we were made in the image of God. But sin, sin came and marred that image. Can we get it back? Is there any way to retrieve that image in which we were made? There is a way. It is by looking into the Word of God and seeing what we ought to be and allowing the Holy Spirit to change us into His image – the image in which He made us.

There are different degrees of glory. There is the glory of the sun and the glory of the moon and the glory of the earth and the glory of eternity. All glory is reflected glory. All glory is the reflection of the Creator.

And so:

We are changed into the glory of God

We are changed by the Spirit of God

We reflect the glory of God

We show to the world the glory of God

Reflected in us.

Reflection depends totally on being in the right relationship. If the moon is not in right relationship with the sun, the moon will not be seen. When the moon is in the right relationship with the sun, the moon is brilliant.

And so we, as we remain in the right relationship with God we reflect His glory. We behold Him and are changed to be like Him. We are transformed from glory to glory as we grow more like God.

We can regain the glory of God that God placed in His creation. We regain His glory by looking into His Word and seeing His truth and becoming more and more like Him every day.

Beloved, now are we the sons of God and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is. I John 3:2

We grow more and more like Him every day as the Spirit changes us. But, even so, we are seeing trough a glass, darkly. But, when we finally see Him at the end of this life – we shall be like Him for we shall see Him face to face.
