The Pillar and Ground of the Truth

 

I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, Which is the church of the living God,

The pillar and ground of the truth. 

 

-How shall we conduct ourselves in the house of God?

• We are responsible to direct and shepherd the Church of God.
• We are responsible to protect the Church from error.
• We are responsible to teach God’s Truth to God’s people.
• We are responsible to live God’s Truth with God’s people. 

-This is the Church of the living God

• This is where God dwells
• God dwells in and with His people
• The Church is His called-out group
• He is the living God 

-The pillar of the Truth

• As a pillar supports the building, the Church supports the truth
• Truth is the pillar of support for the Church 

-The ground of the Truth

• As the foundation supports the building, the Church supports the truth
• The church is founded on The Rock – that Rock is Truth 

The Church of Jesus Christ is the pillar and ground of the Truth.

Truth is the goal, the experience and the practice of the Church.

Truth is the non-negotiable – all else must bow to the truth.

The Truth is Jesus and

Jesus is the Truth.

Jesus said, “Thy Word is Truth”

God’s Word is Truth

Jesus is the Word of Truth

In the beginning was the Word and

The Word was with God and

The Word was God

All else is either: wrong or is a footnote to the Truth

When a church ceases to be the pillar and ground of the truth

It ceases to be The Church of God 

 

And without controversy

Great is the mystery of godliness:

God was manifested in the flesh,

Justified in the Spirit,

Seen by angels,

Preached among the Gentiles,

Believed on in the world,

Received up in glory.
