From Disbelief to Laughter

From the laughter of disbelief to the laughter of faith

The story of Abraham and Sarah

Then Abraham fell upon his face, and

Abraham laughed, and said in his heart,

Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? And

Shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear? Therefore

Sarah laughed within herself, saying,

After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?

And the LORD said unto Abraham,

Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying,

Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old?

Is any thing too hard for the LORD?

At the time appointed I will return unto thee,

According to the time of life, and

Sarah shall have a son.

Then Sarah denied, saying, I did not laugh; for she was afraid.

And the Lord said, No; but you did laugh.

And Abraham called the name of his son

That was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.

And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being eight days old, as

God had commanded him.

And Abraham was an hundred years old, when

His son Isaac was born unto him.

And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh,

So that all that hear will laugh with me.

From Genesis 17, 18, and 21

Isaac means laughter – every time they see their son and call his name they remember that nothing is too difficult for the Lord.

What about you today? Are you troubled with problems that cannot be solved? Are you in an impossible situation? Is anything too difficult for God? Perhaps it is time for laughter. Not the laughter of disbelief. Not the laughter of unbelief. That is the cynical laughter of the comics of this world system.

The laughter that God gives is the real, deep-down joy of faith. Knowing that you know that you know that God is in control and that everything will work out for good to those who know the Lord – those who are called according to His purpose.

As God reveals His purpose to you, you will laugh – the satisfying laughter of a redeemed person who, in life or in death, will be an overcomer in the battles of life.

With that attitude –

God will make you laugh and

All who hear will laugh with you.
