Fighting For Your Heart

by on December 12, 2013

Hearts are fragile. Your heart is fragile. You need someone to fight for your heart.  Why? Because your heart has so many enemies. And too many times it is easy for you to believe the lies of those enemies.

When someone fights for your heart, they confront those enemies in your heart. They show you that the enemies can be defeated. They support your heart in the battle against the devil and his devices.

What does it mean to fight for someone’s heart?

  • When someone fights for your heart,

You know that you are not alone.

  • When someone fights for your heart,

You know that you are truly loved.

  • When someone sits with you and listens to you and ferrets out your deepest longings and fears,

You know that you are loved.

  • When someone does not allow you to think less of yourself than you ought to think,

You know that you are loved.

  • When someone talks you out of your feelings of insignificance and lack of worth,

You know that you are loved.

  • When someone notices that you are not doing well,

You know that you are loved.

  • When someone wants to be with you just because you are you,

You know that you are loved.

These are the people who will draw you out of the deepest waters of despair and desperation. These are the people who love you so much that they will fight for you when you cannot fight for yourself.

And then, there are hearts for whom you need to fight. You need to fight the battle for the hearts of your friends. Their hearts have enemies too. You need to be their friend. You need to fight for their hearts. You need to confront their wrong thinking and lack of acceptance of who God made them to be.

God’s people love each other. We fight for each other. That is what it means to love and be loved. We are not alone. We are a fellowship where we have fellowship. Fellowship with God and fellowship with one other.

Jesus fought for our hearts in His life and in His death. We now fight for each other as members of His body.
