Don’t Miss Him

by on December 28, 2013

Why does God cloak His works in obscurity? Why does He announce His works in quietness and mystery.

Why did He send an angel to an old couple to tell them that they would have a son?
Why did He send and angel to an engaged couple to tell them that would have a son?
Why did He send Simeon to the temple to welcome His Salvation to the world?
Why did He send Anna to the temple to welcome His Salvation to the world?

An elderly man about to die, holding a weeks-old baby – is that the way you announce the most important news that the world had ever heard? Apparently so, but why?

Years later, Jesus will say, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babies: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.
From Luke 10:21

Wisdom and prudence are good. But, they are not the way to know God and see His works. Power and might and wealth can be useful. But, they are not God’s way to show Himself to His world.

God’s Holy Spirit is still at work. Just as in the stories above, God’s Spirit is at work. In the hearts and lives of the “babies” He is speaking to His people. To those who are so simple to hear and believe and accept the quiet voice of the Holy Spirit, He is still at work.

Nothing has changed. In a world of IPOs and CEOs, nothing has changed. Amid the bustle and hustle of all of life, God is still at work. He is here. Don’t miss Him.
