Fathers

by on June 13, 2014

For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet
You do not have many fathers – for in Christ Jesus
I have begotten you through the gospel.
I Corinthians 4:15

There is a desperate need for fathers. Fathers are God’s primary representatives here on earth. Societies rise and fall on the integrity of the fathers.

Fathers protect the truth and the children and all who need protection. Fathers become leaders of the Church. The Church needs fathers. There are many teachers. There are few fathers. Fathers love children – their biological children and all other children that God brings into their lives. Fathers love people – their families and all the families that God brings into their lives. Fathers are needed as Church leaders.

A father knows The Father. A father knows The Father’s heart. A father has The Father’s heart. A father follows The Father’s heart.
A father is a warrior. He chooses his battles wisely. He is victorious over temptation and sin and wrong. He does not countenance sin.

A father is an example. He models Godly behavior. He knows that he has followers. He leaves footprints for them to follow.

A father knows how to ask forgiveness. He will make mistakes. He will ask forgiveness. He will correct his mistakes. He is humble. He seeks counsel.

A father is guided by the Holy Spirit of God. His greatest fear is to dishonor God. His fear is to break the heart of God.

A father lives in light of eternity. He knows that life is short. Eternity is long. Nothing on this earth or in this life is worth missing the blessing of God for eternity.

Are you a father? Not just a bio-dad but a real father? Even if you do not have children, you are still a father. You can model Godly behavior. You can live in absolute integrity. God is calling you to that life.

The just man walks in his integrity:
His children are blessed after him.
Proverbs 20:7
