Holy Spirit – Tablets of Stone or Tablets of Flesh

by on September 3, 2014

II Corinthians 3:1-5

Clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.

The Holy Spirit of God writes his letter on the soft, fleshy tables of our hearts. The heart is a soft, pliable, fleshy table. NOT A FLESHLY TABLE! Fleshy means soft and pliable. Fleshly means carnal, of the flesh.

Ezekiel told of this ministry of the Holy Spirit many years before –

Ezekiel 11:19 And I will give them one heart, and
I will put a new spirit within you; and
I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and
I will give them an heart of flesh:

Ezekiel 36:26 A new heart also will
I give you, and a new spirit will
I put within you: and
I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and
I will give you an heart of flesh.

In the present age of the Holy Spirit – the Church Age, as Jesus promised, this promise is true for all believers.

Tables of stone had no power to change hearts of stone. The Holy Spirit of the Living God living in believers has the power to change the hearts of stone to be soft and pliable. God’s Word takes root and God’s Spirit takes residence and we are changed from the inside out.

Praise the Lord! If you have experienced this you will never be the same. If you have not, you can. You can be an “epistle of Christ” led by Godly leaders. The Holy Spirit will write the letter of God on your heart. Praise be to God. We are the age to experience this most wonderful of all blessings of life.
