God Offers Peace To His People

by on November 6, 2014

Peace is such a sweet refrain. The human heart desires and loves peace. Only God offers peace. Where there is no peace, the heart is in pain. Where there is peace, God is there. Where there is peace, the heart is at rest.

We can have personal peace with God and within ourselves anywhere. We can have personal peace of heart in troubled places. But peace and fellowship and harmony with other persons exists only where the Spirit of God rules in peace.

Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.
When we believe, God fills us with hope and peace. The power and presence of the Holy Spirit in us gives us peace when we believe. Paul goes on to say in the next verse-

And I am persuaded, my brethren that ye yourselves also are full of goodness, having been filled with all knowledge, able also one admonish one another.
Mutual admonition, the giving and receiving of Godly counsel with each other, is what maintains the peace we received when we believed. The Holy Spirit fills us with goodness and we acquire knowledge in the Scripture. This combination produces Godly living and maintains the peace of heart and life so needed in the fellowship.

Ephesians 4:3 Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
The Holy Spirit of God and the peace of God are inseparable. When we keep the unity of the Spirit it provides the bond of peace. We are bonded together with peace – peace with God and peace with other brothers and sisters in the faith.

This is not the spirit of unity. It is the unity of the Spirit. It is the Spirit that provides unity. As we all follow the same Scripture and we are controlled by the same Spirit, we experience the bond of peace. We make peace by living the Godly life

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
James 3:17-18
