The Toggle

A ratchet wrench is one of the most used and useful tools in a mechanics toolbox. Ratchet wrenches come in many sizes. From the tiny quarter-inch up to the huge one-inch ratchet, they are most useful tools.

A ratchet consists of a handle and a ratchet. The ratchet contains a set of gears that can be changed from one side to the other by moving a tiny toggle.

The common denominator of all ratchets is the toggle. The toggle is a very small lever that changes the direction of the force. The toggle can be moved to direct the force either left or right.

When the toggle is set for right, the handle moves the force to the right. When the handle is moved to the left, no force is applied.

When the toggle is set for left, the handle moves the force to the left. When the handle is moved to the right, no force is applied.

Life is like that. Sometimes the smallest items (issues, decisions) make the greatest differences. It is critical that those decisions are made with utmost wisdom.

The people who control the position of the toggle control the direction of the force. Those who do not accept the direction can move the handle backwards as much as they want but all they are doing is preparing the next move of those who control the toggle.

When you move the handle away from the way the toggle is set, you may feel like you are making a difference but you are not. To make a difference you must change the position of the toggle so the direction of the force changes.

You can work hard. You can plan and exert effort. But, if the toggle is not set properly, you will exert much effort and accomplish nothing. Pay attention to the little things in life. Many times the little things are the big things. The little things that control the direction of the force of life require attention and focus.

Pay attention. Notice the little things. Put your effort into the things that matter. While you are doing that, make sure that the toggle is set correctly. If it is not, your efforts will not accomplish the task at hand.

Do not allow someone to set the toggle for you unless you know, beyond a doubt, that you can trust them. Many people are ready to set the toggle for you. Many of them do not have the same focus that you do. Notice if and when they put their hand on the toggle of your life.

Jesus is the One you can trust to set the direction of your life. He knows how to set the toggle on your life-tools so that your effort is concentrated in the right direction. His Word and His Spirit will guide you and keep your direction set toward God and His Kingdom.
