A Time To Die
A Time To Die
There is a time to be born and there is a time to die. That is what the Bible says.
Last Saturday evening at 8:PM Lois and I were involved in a very serious accident. We easily could have died in that accident. We did not. We were injured but we did not die. It was not our time to die.
The Bible also says,
For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s. Romans 14:8.
In a very real sense, it does not matter whether we live (in this life) or whether we die. In either case, we are the Lord’s. When we are alive it is because He wants us alive and He has work for us to do. When we die it is because He wants us to die and our earthly work is done.
People are born and people die. God provides leaders for the people of the earth. Sometimes He provides good leaders. Sometimes He provides bad leaders. He uses the leaders He provides to accomplish His purposes.
We are sometimes baffled at who God allows to live and who He chooses to die. His ways are above our ways. His thoughts are above our thoughts.
Some say, we come into life without our consent and we leave against our will. None of this, however, is in violation of the plan of God. He has the wisdom and power to accomplish His will.
Will we live tomorrow or will we die? We do not know. God knows.
Either way, we are the Lord’s.
