Gearboxes

by on May 7, 2015

Most of us use gearboxes every day. There are gearboxes in lawnmowers and food mixers and vacuum cleaners and motor vehicles. They run smoothly and quietly most of the time. That is because they are built well and lubricated properly.

A gearbox must be strong and properly built and properly set up and aligned. The gearbox then needs to be filled to the proper level with the correct oil.

If you put oil in a faulty or broken gearbox it will not help. Oil will not help a broken or damaged gearbox.
A perfectly designed and built gearbox will fail in a very short time unless it is filled with oil.

The wrong gearbox at the wrong place or a broken or damaged gearbox will not provide useful service. The right application filled with the correct lubricant will insure useful service long-term.

The Spiritual applications can easily be made. The gear box is the truth and the oil is the love. Each are incredibly important. Each are useless without the other.

God’s design is for truth to be guarded and kept intact. God’s design is for love to supply the needed lubricant for the gifts to function. God’s design is for each application to be where He intended it to be used. If we do that, the Church will run smoothly and accomplish what God intended. If we do not do that, the church will falter and fail.

Ephesians 4:15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head–Christ– 16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.
