Right or Wrong

Right or Wrong

Organizations make rules. They are allowed to do that. But, they must be very careful about how they do that.

Behaviors can be legal but still be wrong.

Behaviors can be illegal but still be right.

Rightness or wrongness are not determined by what is legal.

The Supreme Court of the US has made or allowed some behaviors to be legal when they are clearly wrong from a Christian perspective.

Churches can do the same thing.
They can allow beliefs and/or behaviors that are wrong.
They can forbid beliefs and/or behaviors that are right.

Human organizations do not have the authority to determine what is right and what is wrong. Rightness and wrongness are not their decisions to make.

Rightness and wrongness are determined by God and His Word. Human organizations must derive their decisions from the Word of God through the direction of the Holy Spirit of God.

Human laws and/or rules must be derived from, and must be a reflection of, and in recognition of the laws of our Creator God. If they are not, they are not representative of God’s truth and are not functioning as Godly persons and groups need to function.

Examine your own heart. Examine your own relationships. Examine your behaviors.

Are you engaging in behaviors that are “legal” but clearly wrong?
Are you engaging in behaviors that are clearly right even though they are “illegal?”

God is the Judge. We will be judged by His Word. We will not be able to hide behind our human assessments of right and wrong.

God’s Word is truth. You shall know the truth and the truth will set you free.
