Living in Victory

Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ,
And through us manifests the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.

For we are to God the fragrance of Christ
Among those who are being saved,
And among those who are perishing.

To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death,
And to the other, the aroma of life leading to life.

And who is sufficient for these things?

For we are not, as so many, peddling the word of God;
But as of sincerity,
But as from God,
We speak in the sight of God in Christ.

II Corinthians 2:14-17

Living a life of victory means that we are victorious even in seeming earthly defeat. God leads us to victory in Christ. We are over-comers. We have overcome the flesh and the Devil. Our lives display the sweet aroma of God and His knowledge everywhere we go.

As God’s obedient children we are a sweet aroma of Christ to God. We are that aroma to those who are being saved and to those who are perishing.

That sweet aroma is not sweet to everyone.

To those who are perishing, our sweet aroma reminds them of their impending death. Those who are not saved will perceive us as reminders of death. That is why they hate us. That is why we do not fit with their patterns.

To those being saved, we are the sweet aroma of a life of salvation in Christ.
Those who are saved will perceive us that way. We have fellowship and bask in that aroma – the aroma that emanates from Christ and flows in and from us

Who is sufficient for these things? None of us are. But, as we live a life of sincerity we receive calling and strength from God. We are not hucksters peddling our wares, we do not flaunt that aroma. On the contrary, we live lives of sincerity in honor of Christ, the Word of God. Through the daily lives of us, His children, He blesses and warns His world.

Are you living a life of the fragrance of God? Are you living a life of victory? Are God’s children drawn to you? Are people with needs blessed by your life? Are wicked people convicted by the aroma of your daily life?

We are not sufficient for these things but, God is sufficient and faithful.
May your life bring blessing, conviction and the knowledge of God to the world around you today.
