As a young man a friend of mine was always positive. He loved to sing songs that were kind of light and airy. He loved the sweet country and western songs that made everything and everyone turn out right. He did not like songs that had unhappy endings.
I was always a bit more down to earth. Life for me was kind of sober if not somber. Not to say that I did not enjoy life but, it seemed to carry a bit more gravity than that of my friend.
Certainly he was good for me and kept me thinking in a positive vein. Was I good for him? Not sure.
As an adult, I find that many people like to pretend that all is well when it is not. They only see the Bible verses that contain wonderful promises. The prophets seem to be too honest for them. Just find good in everything and everyone and every situation. Even if you have to pretend, only see the good.
This Roger Williams song sometimes still rings in my mind the way my friend would sing it. It is truly wonderful, if not totally realistic. Maybe it will resonate with you.

Maybe it is just what the church needs today. Not sure. It seems to be the mantra of many. Maybe my friend was right. I offer the words of this song to you here.
(Just understand, this is not my style but it represents a popular approach to church and life. Read, enjoy if you can but then, choose the style that you think is most Biblical.)

Walkin’ in the sunshine sing a little sunshine song
Put a smile upon your face as if there’s nothing wrong
Think about a good time had a long time ago
Think about forgetting about your worries and your woes
Walkin’ in the sunshine sing a little sunshine song

La la la la la de ho
Whether the weather be rain or snow
Pretending can make it real
A snowy pasture, a green and grassy field

Walkin’ in the sunshine sing a little sunshine song
Put a smile upon your face as if there’s nothing wrong
Think about a good time had a long time ago
Think about forgetting about your worries and your woes
Walkin’ in the sunshine sing a little sunshine song
La la la la la de ho
Whether the weather be rain or snow
Pretending can make it real
A snowy pasture, a green and grassy field

Walkin’ in the sunshine sing a little sunshine song
Put a smile upon your face as if there’s nothing wrong
Think about a good time had a long time ago
Think about forgetting about your worries and your woes
Walkin’ in the sunshine sing a little sunshine song
Walkin’ in the sunshine singing a sunshine song
Put a smile upon your face as if there’s nothing wrong
Think about forgetting about your worries and your woes
Walkin’ in the sunshine sing a little sunshine song
