Vengeance – What We Can Do

What We Can Do
-We can flee – that is what David did
-We do not have to allow someone to inflict pain on us
-We do not have to sit still while ‘Saul’ throws spears at us
-We do not have the right to demand personal retribution
-We do not have the right to revenge even when it is possible

At the same time
-We need to have strong desire for the vindication of the glory and truth of God
-We need to have strong zeal for the house of God – like Jesus did

The Church
-The Church is pillar and ground of the truth – when a congregation ceases to be on the foundation of truth, it is no longer the Church of Jesus Christ
-It then becomes the responsibility of Godly people to continue the Church of Jesus Christ where ever that can be done

Personal Christian Character
-We need to have a desire for equity
-We need to live a life of absolute integrity
-We need to provide equity for the people we contact as far as we can

Eventually
-Jesus Christ will rule in righteousness
-This age is not the time of God’s vengeance
-That time will come later when Jesus returns –
Isaiah 61:2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD,
And the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;
Isaiah 63:4 For the day of vengeance is in mine heart,
And the year of my redeemed is come.

God’s promise is that there will be eventual Divine justice

To comfort all that mourn
We can be sure of that
