Shame

by on October 14, 2016

Toxic shame prompts us to deny and cover up our weaknesses. We develop a false self (ego) so others will love us and allow us to belong. Deep inside we know we can never earn the love we need. We defend our false opinion of ourselves by disliking and attacking our secret faults when we see them in others.

Healthy shame allows us to have weaknesses and look to our Father for the love we need. It allows us to be at ease with our weaknesses and the weaknesses of others.
